FOUNDRY 4.0, FOUNDRY DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: A STUDY DAY IN BERGAMO ON MARCH 23rd
Registration is open for the Study Day on foundry digital transformation organized by the Italian Metallurgy Association and scheduled for March 23rd in Bergamo.
On the wave of the project Industry 4.0 in Germany, over the last years the Italian companies have always responded positively up to the most recent issuing of the Industry 4.0 National Plan by the Italian Government. The enabling technologies are well known in many industrial sectors where the process digital transformation is crucial for elevated automation and virtualization.
Among all foundry processes and despite its complexity, diecasting is ideal for intensive monitoring of the process parameters. Many of these latter are already being monitored but the several aspects of a diecasting cell are often managed by different control panels while this complex process requires a smart management of all the variables affecting casting quality, energy consumption and product final cost.
If, on the one hand, production data and performance are monitored via managing systems that evaluate the OEE reference values, on the other, information derives from the very core of the production cell: nowadays each single phase of the production process can be sensorized and monitored. The large quantity of data doesn’t augment knowledge or advantages is reference correlations aren’t correct and processed in real time – cognitive systems are now available which foresee the quality of each single casting.
Maturity and applicability of these new technologies in the digitalization era will be dealt with by the delegates of different entrepreneurial realities in order to understand how to turn the foundry into a Factory of the Future to be called Foundry 4.0.
