NEW AL-CU 2000 SERIES ALUMINIUM ALLOY

FOR MILITARY APPLICATIONS

The new alloy 2139 – as per designation of the Aluminum Association – contains 4.5% of copper and smaller additional quantities of silver and manganese.

The alloy was developed for use in airframe structural applications, and the requirement for higher strength and good toughness made the 2139 find interesting applications in protection plates for tanks and similar uses.

It features corrosion resistance and moderately high-temperature stability, and it is produced by Constellium under the Keikor registered brand.
