SUMMER SCHOOL 4L-ALLOYS IN VICENZA FROM 24th TO 28th JULY

The use of light alloys is reporting strong growth rates due to the increasingly stricter requirements of eco-sustainability in several industrial fields. Recycling and re-using aluminium alloys to produce products with excellent qualitative properties is a winning aspect, provided that all implications and operating flows are well known. The Summer School 4L-Alloys (Life Long Learning on Light Alloys: from Raw Materials to Sustainable Products) – to be held at the University of Vicenza, at the Department of Technique and Management of Industrial Systems from July 24th through 28th – will deal with these topics. The event will focus on collection, management, processing and melting of scrap as well as on the technological comparison between primary and secondary aluminium alloys, on the new applications and market scenarios of recycled alloys, successful case-histories on alloy recycling for foundry uses, extrusion and rolling. In the second half of 2017, the Summer School will be followed by 5 in-field lab sessions in Italian companies and qualified international research centres (SAEN, Aachen University, Tecnalia, Leuven University, Stockholm University). The scientific committee includes Lars Arnberg (KTH, Stockholm, Sweden), Franco Bonollo (Padova University), Andreas Buhling Polaczek (RWTH, Aachen, Germany), Giulio Timelli (Padova University) and Diran Apelian (Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA). The initiative is sponsored by EIT RawMaterials, European consortium for research, innovation and training in the field of raw materials (www.eitrawmaterials.eu).
