RHEINFELDEN ALLOYS AND FONDERIE 2A

TOGETHER FOR THE ALUMINIUM 2.0 PROJECT

One of the major topics in the transportation market – in particular in the automotive and industrial vehicle sector but also in the agricultural and earth handling machine division – is vehicle weight reduction for lower environmental impact, reduced fuel consumption and higher payload. The issue focuses on a larger use of aluminium alloys to replace traditional materials thus giving the green light to several research and development initiatives aiming at identifying the most performing alternative materials, technologies and products, especially in terms of foundry die castings.
This is how the Aluminum 2.0 initiative was launched: an ambitious project leading to the tuning and implementation of new aluminium alloys for high-quality die castings, new production processes and new applications, developed in close association between Rheinfelden Alloys of Alois Franke and 2A Spa of Vincenzo Ilotte.
