The opportunity of a strategic partnership, with reference to the aluminum industry, including the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) and the European Union was the central theme of the meeting held in Brussels in late January, organized by GAC Gulf Aluminium Council (which is the light metal industry of the Gulf countries), in collaboration with FACE (the European association of aluminum users) and GCC. In 2014 the EU exported goods and services to over 95 billion euro, by importing from the GCC to about 50 billion euro. Over the past decade and in the previous period, the trade balance has always been in favor of the EU. Today, the GCC is the fifth trade partner of the EU and this is the second partner of the GCC. Among the raw materials that the GCC's aluminum exports to the EU, though the majority of plant and equipment used for the light metal production, environmental protection and energy production come from ' Europe. Hence the political need to open prospects for closer cooperation with the producers of the Gulf Aluminum, the world's area of maximum importance for the sector of the primary metal.
