NUOVO STABILIMENTO FAW

Con Silk Ev per produrre supercar elettriche di lusso

NEW FAW PLANT

It will rise in Gavassa, the new plant designed by the Chinese giant Faw together with the Americans of Silk Ev to produce luxury electric supercars. The first car, the Hongqi S9, designed by Walter Da Silva, should come out by 2023 from a plant that will rise on an area of 320 thousand square meters.

THE INVESTMENT

A total investment of one billion euros, will allow the creation of one thousand new jobs. In Reggio Emilia, the production plant, the research and development center, as well as the design center of the "S" series supercars, the super sports cars already presented by the Chinese giant Faw at the Shanghai Motor Show in mid-April, will be built.

PRODUCTION AREA

The area has already been earmarked for years as a production area by the regulatory plans of the City and is therefore ready for construction. The company will open an international call for tenders to find architects to design the new factory. And speaking of repercussions on the local territory, important supply agreements have already been signed with companies in Modena, Bologna and Parma, including Dallara, which has already announced its collaboration for the first model. Therefore, not only the Hongqi S9, already presented in Shanghai, but also the S7 will be produced here, while large-scale production will be carried out both in Emilia and in Changchun, where Faw's headquarters are located. "We are thrilled that our plant will be located in Reggio, which we are proud to call home. In this strategic area we can attract skilled people and new talent: we expect to create a thousand jobs," said Krane, without revealing too much of the project, while the mayor Luca Vecchi spoke of investment "epochal". "A worldwide project, Emilia-Romagna wins and with it the country. The President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini, rejoiced, while the Councillor for Labour, Vincenzo Colla, underlined the "strong impact in terms of employment, development and sustainability, which will allow us to strengthen the supply chain".

THE NUMBERS

Faw is one of the giants of the global automotive industry, with 130 thousand employees and 3.5 million cars sold in 2019.
