The supply chain prepares to meet at METEF 2025 next March 5-7: the future of aluminum between innovation, sustainability and international growth
From March 5-7, 2025, METEF returns to BolognaFiere, consolidating its role as Italy’s leading event for the aluminum industry;
Aluminum Energy Summit: a key moment where industry leaders and experts will discuss strategies for energy efficiency and decarbonization, issues that are central to the industry’s competitiveness;
A marked presence of foreign companies and buyer delegations from 11 countries to foster new business opportunities and global networking.
Milano, February 17, 2025 – From March 5-7, 2025, METEF returns to BolognaFiere concurrently with MECSPE, an international event in Italy for the aluminium supply chain. Organized by Senaf and now in its 13th year, it will offer an overview of key market trends, decarbonisation challenges, and cutting-edge technological solutions for the circular economy.
METEF 2025 offers a calendar of appointments designed to explore industry challenges and opportunities and combine the industry’s synergies: from strategies for energy efficiency to new developments in the aluminum supply chain, the meeting schedule will offer moments between experts, companies and key stakeholders.
In particular, the third Aluminium Energy Summit is a landmark event for the aluminium industry, offering an opportunity to discuss strategies aimed at energy efficiency and decarbonisation. In an increasingly sustainability- aware global environment, the summit will explore concrete solutions the industry can adopt to reduce its environmental footprint and optimize resources.
The event will highlight the key role of technological innovation and cooperation between companies, energy suppliers and institutions in building a more resilient and competitive industrial model. Security of energy supply, cost containment and the adoption of increasingly efficient processes will be some of the key topics.
The Summit provides an ideal platform to discuss real contributions and technological solutions that the industry can activate to achieve the goals of circular economy and CO₂ footprint reduction.
Following the Summit will take place the award ceremony of the Metef Awards competition, an initiative that aims to bring out the manufacturing excellence of the aluminum supply chain, through appropriate enhancement of the technologies and solutions presented by the companies by prioritizing the aspects of contribution to decarbonization, performance peculiarities, technological innovation, originality and competitive advantages.
New for 2025 is the “Closing the STEM Gap” category , dedicated to the inclusion of women in industry.
METEF 2025 will offer a series of thematic meetings on strategic topics:
- Primary and recycled aluminum in the extrusion industry. The conference, organized by Aluminium Two Thousand and ICEB-International Conference on Extrusion and Benchmark, provides a unique opportunity to analyze the challenges and opportunities of using recycled aluminum versus primary aluminum. Industry experts will discuss innovations in extrusion processes, sustainable sourcing strategies and technologies to improve production efficiency. A must-attend event for companies and professionals who want to remain competitive in a rapidly changing market.
- Round Table – Aluminum and Italian Excellence: Innovation, Design, and Sustainability in Naval Construction. Rossinavi, a symbol of Italian excellence in luxury yacht construction, will take center stage in an exclusive round table discussion to explore the new challenges and opportunities related to the use of aluminum in the construction of mega yachts. The event will feature Federico Rossi from Rossinavi, along with Vincenzo Zinni from Niche Fusina Rolled Products, Mattia Marconi from Alluminio di Qualità, Guido Godani from Metalluminio, and Franco Bonollo from the University of Padua. The discussion will be moderated by Eugenio Paroletti from A&L-Aluminium and its alloys magazine.
- Recycling aluminum alloys: the new challenges. A seminar led by Prof. Franco Bonollo of the University of Padua will provide an analysis of process and technology improvement opportunities to enhance the potential of aluminum.
- Calculating the environmental footprint of aluminum castings: the Assofond tool. The Confindustria association representing Italian foundries will present a new tool that will allow aluminum foundries to independently identify the main types of environmental impacts of their products and the percentage weight that each stage of the production process represents.
“ETEF 2025 is the only meeting point in Italy for players in the aluminium field, which offers a unique opportunity for networking, knowledge sharing and presentation of the industry’s most advanced innovations. The event proves to be an essential reference for companies, institutions, and professionals, with a specific focus on sustainability, decarbonisation, and new challenges.” says Maruska Sabato, project manager of MECSPE, emphasizing the strategic importance of the event.
In addition, thanks to the collaboration of ICE, Agency for the Promotion Abroad and Internationalization of Italian Businesses, the event will welcome buyer delegations from 11 countries, such as Algeria, Bosnia, Croatia, India, Mexico, Poland, Czech Republic, Morocco, Turkey, Hungary and Uzbekistan, creating new business opportunities for exhibitors to expand their network through a matching program, one-to-one business meetings and international networking activities.
METEF 2025 represents a unique opportunity to face the challenges of ecological transition challenges, promote innovation, and build an increasingly sustainable and competitive field.
The next edition of METEF will be held March 5–7, 2025, in conjunction with MECSPE.
About METEF
For 25 years, the METEF exhibition has been Italy’s only point of reference for the aluminum industrial supply chain: from raw, primary, and recycled materials, to machinery, equipment, production and processing plants, semi-finished products, castings and finished products in the diecasting, gravity and low-pressure foundry, extrusion, rolling and stamping sectors, to machining, assemblies, finishes and recycling technologies.
METEF is an event created and shaped in close collaboration with businesses and industry insiders. Today, in a global context of heated and difficult competitiveness, it is revived by focusing on the established expertise and experience of the industry segment.
As is customary, the industry’s top national and international associations’ unwavering support helps refocus attention on the industry’s development through an extraordinary cultural heritage that must tackle the new frontiers of technology and sustainable innovation.
METEF, for which Senaf has been appointed as the organizer, will be held concurrently with MECSPE, a landmark event for the manufacturing industry in Italy. The two events will be located in separate pavilions but adjacent to develop synergies and achieve common goals. A strong alliance between two events that are well known and established in their respective target markets, as well as complementarity and completeness of the product range offered, aim to offer visitors a complete and unmissable experience.
