Interview to Stefano Mascetti, Flow Science Mediterranea
Your company participates in METEF. Can you tell us why you chose to be present?
We have an important simulation technology that we would like to show to all participants and exhibitors, which promotes a green perspective in the development of new solutions, and increases the quality of industrial products, thus elevating companies to be competitive in high-quality markets.
I believe it is important today to differentiate ourselves from the competition first and foremost by the quality, professionalism, and technical expertise of the products that are provided.
We work in the sector of virtual simulation of the metal casting process, a technology that allows you to save money in testing, scrap, developing knowledge of your own process.
Full mastery of their casting process is what every company strives for, and virtual simulation offers an accurate and cost-effective tool to do that.
What innovations will you present at the fair? What kind of benefits do they bring to operators in the sector?
FLOW-3D CAST simulation software, a software with a long history behind it, which is renowned for its accuracy and detail in the dynamics of a casting process, as well as ease of use and speed of calculation. The simulation reproduced by the software is based on mathematical and deterministic physical principles, with the result faithfully imitating the complexity of a real casting process. Now in its 2025 version, the product is a mature product that conforms to current computing standards.
Virtual simulation is a very economical tool compared to testing real prototypes or the associated risk of going into production with a mold designed by traditional methods. Especially when you want to focus on some innovative solution, simulation allows you to check advantages and disadvantages in advance, with just a few hours of calculation.
It is also an extremely green tool, allowing you to ‘see’ a design at work without the use of any raw materials other than electricity and an ordinary desktop PC.
What is your message of invitation for aluminum professionals to visit your booth at METEF?
For those who do not yet have a virtual simulation tool at home, it will be interesting to talk about the numbers and advantages in using it. For those already familiar with these tools, it will be a pleasure to discuss with them about the use of this technology, and the differences between one tool and another.
